Cover Letter Sample For Retail Job Interview

Retail Cover Letter Sample 1:

I’d like to express interest in the retail associate position that you have posted on your corporate website. I believe I would make a great addition to your sales team, and I have the resume to prove it.

You asked for someone loyal, punctual and with experience in money handling. I happen to have all of these qualities in abundance. I’ve worked at my last job, Mr. Handy, since I was a 16-year-old summer employee, steadily climbing the ladder until I became a shift lead when I was just 19. I was promoted over much older and more experienced candidates because I understood the demands of the job and how to raise the store in the estimation of our customers.

How did I accomplish this? As you can see in my resume, I created a customer feedback program that was eventually adopted in all the stores across the county. I came up with the idea, called the vendors, ordered the cards and trained the employees myself. The program was a hit, and in the course of just six months, our average score went from “excellent” to “phenomenal.” Based on the suggestions of our shoppers, we were able to refine our customer service policies until they satisfied a staggering 95 percent.

As for money handling experience, I’ve been everything from a cashier to an inventory input coordinator. I was also trusted with the key to the vaults as part of my duties as a shift lead. I’ve enclosed the numbers of two of my past managers, for verification.

Punctuality has never been an issue for me either. In all my years at Mr. Handy, I’ve only been late a handful of times. The head manager used to comment that I was more dependable than he was. I also picked up extra shifts when others weren’t available, and I often stayed late at the request of senior employees in order to finish a project or help them count the day’s money.

All in all, I believe I’d be an excellent fit at your store. I have the qualifications that you’re looking for, and I have the drive to succeed in an exciting new position. I’d love the opportunity to discuss things with you in an interview.

Retail Cover Letter Sample 2:

I saw that you’re looking for a dynamic, high-energy sales representative to work on the main floor of your store. I’m here to tell to submit my resume for the position.

I’ve been in retail my entire life, starting with a seasonal position at American Clothes and eventually branching out to their affiliate company Mens Suiting. I volunteered for the transfer because I enjoy new environments and opportunities, and I was also eager to test my skills against their sales team, the #1 in the district.

To say that I learned a lot from them would be an understatement; they taught me more than I ever could have imagined about sales. Under their tutelage, I became an expert in helping and motivating customers to purchase items which lead to many return customers. I also refined my skills in cashiering, money handling and stocking merchandise. I even took an outside, unpaid course in loss prevention.

My last position was an extremely demanding due to its high volume of both customers and product shipments. Though my primary responsibilities involved being face-to-face with customers, I also did a fair amount of ordering and inventory management in the back. I’m equally effective on the floor or behind the scenes, and I can complete any task that you put in front of me.

If you’re wondering about my confidence, I believe that it’s a necessary component to making a sale. Customers won’t have faith in the brand unless you do as well, and I can project a firm, friendly image that leaves no doubt in their minds that the products are the best.

As for the physical demands of the position that you listed in the job description, they won’t be a problem. I can work 10+ hours on my feet without an issue. You’ll find my energy and enthusiasm unchanged no matter how long the shift.

I’ve enclosed my resume for your perusal, and I’m available by phone or email if you have any questions or need any more references. I’d also love the opportunity to meet with you in person and give you a demonstration of my skills. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Retail Cover Letter Sample 3:

I came across your advertisement for the vacancy in the retail department at your store and would like to apply for the same. Below, I have briefly outlined my education and experience thus far.

I have worked in the retail department for six months at a Mr Clothes store, one of the most popular fashion brands where I obtained firsthand experience in working with customers as well as displaying merchandise

Addressing any immediate customer grievances and collecting customer feedback for analysis were the customer service areas that I managed at Mr Clothes. Subsequently, I went on to join Elite-Clothes full time as a Retail Assistant where I work presently.

During my tenure, I have been on many occasions complemented by my manager and senior management for my hard work, strong work ethics, and superior customer service. I was also awarded the “Employee of the Quarter” for the first quarter (Jan-Mar) of this year.

In my one year of work experience, apart from customer service and merchandising, I have also assisted with organizing special promotions for products during sales and festival seasons and was a part of the first-aid team, in case of medical emergencies at the store.

I am very interested in establishing myself in the retail sector and would be glad to have the opportunity of working with a company as reputed as yours. I have attached my CV which contains the details of my academic qualifications as well as contact information, work experience and apprenticeships.

Should you require any further clarifications or details, I would be happy to provide them to you.

Retail Cover Letter Sample 4:

I am writing with reference to the retail job position currently open at your store. With four years of job experience, I can safely vouch for fulfilling the desired candidate requirements for this position.

I began as an associate in the Business Development department at Delta Clothes, and fifteen months thereafter, I shifted to the Retail department within the same company as a Retail Customer Service Executive. I work at Target presently as a Retail Manager, and am looking for opportunities to broaden my horizons and grow even further.

I am a team player, committed and prefer a professional approach to interacting with the staff as well as clients. I consider keeping my team motivated as a top priority. Keeping a tab on retail sales for strategic planning and employee performance monitoring, organizing promotional events and special displays, dealing with customer concerns and assisting with stock management and control are some of the key focus areas at my current position.

I have enclosed my resume for your perusal which includes my contact information as well as relevant details about the projects I have handled thus far.

Should you require any further clarifications or details, I would be happy to provide the same. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you and taking this ahead.
